Account Executive Intern
Luca IQ
About Luca IQ
Luca IQ is a Y Combinator and Harvard Business School-backed accounting automation company. We build software that helps CPA and tax firms collect client documents and prepare workpapers automatically, eliminating the manual grind that has defined the profession for decades.
We just came through our first full tax season with customers (one firm saved over 1,100 hours of prep time). This is an early-stage, ground-floor opportunity to learn high-velocity B2B sales directly from a founder who is a licensed CPA with experience at Ernst & Young, Wall Street, and Harvard Business School.
The Role
This is a sales-first internship for someone who wants to learn how revenue actually gets built at a startup. You'll own the top of the sales funnel, primarily through cold calling, and work directly with the CEO to qualify leads, set up demos, and shape sales strategy. You will report directly to the CEO.
The split:
- 80%: Outbound cold calling. This is the core of the role. You'll be on the phone daily, reaching out to CPA and tax firm owners, opening conversations, and qualifying prospects.
- 20%: Scheduling, demos, and strategy. Booking and coordinating discovery calls, joining founder-led product demos with qualified prospects, and participating in sales strategy conversations that directly inform how we sell.
What You'll Do
- Run high-volume outbound cold-calling campaigns to CPA and tax firms
- Qualify leads against our criteria and identify firms that are a strong fit
- Schedule and coordinate discovery calls and demos between prospects and the founder
- Sit in on (and help support) founder-led product demos
- Contribute to sales strategy discussions: pitch refinement, objection handling, targeting
- Keep prospect and pipeline data organized and current
